LISA does not provide legal advice, which is the professional, yet personal opinion of a licensed attorney. Instead, she provides factual information and guidance based on the letter of the law, no personal opinion, no bias, just the facts. For someone who would otherwise have no help at all, that makes all the difference.

LSC Justice Gap Study, 2022A Goal: Partnering with Legal Aid
Legal aid organizations statistically turn away roughly 60% of the people who seek their help, simply because they lack the staff and resources to serve everyone. The Foundation's goal is to partner with these organizations and deploy LISA, customized to each office, to take on as much or as little of that workload as they choose, from answering calls and performing intake, to giving callers the information and resources to resolve many legal issues on their own, to guiding them through completing documents and forms. Every caller or visitor could receive as much or as little assistance as they need. The aim is simple: help everyone who asks, instead of turning 60% of them away.
